My initial thoughts on the book are, I think that the author describes things very well, they make me feel like I'm there in that exact moment. Its very interesting how he has many different lives. Its cool how the main character dies in the book, in other book the main character usually doesn't die, and if they do it near the end, but in this book he dies many times.

Over spring break I mostly stayed at home, I worked on some pitching for softball in my backyard. I babysat my brother and that was super fun, my brother and I played a lot of games, I even tried to teach him how to play the PS4, he wasn't very good at it. My brother favorite game is hide and seek, we played that game for a good 45 minutes. On Wednesday my mom and I went shopping and I got a lot of new clothes and a new pair of shoes. It was very nice to spend time with my mom. Also i had my best friend Amber spend the night, we had so much fun and we tried to play Just Dance 2017, Now i know why we do gymnastics and not dance. On Sunday I went to Des Moines with my Mom and Dad, we went to the Jordan Creek Mall, I got a bunch of new things for softball and some nice shirts from Hollister, I also got an Apple Watch.
Also over spring break I went to gymnastics, we had practice all during spring break, we had to do many routines because we had state the next weekend. Unfortunately I didn't get to compete because I dislocated my knee in January, but I still went to watch and we got second in team. During practice I cant really do much, I am only allowed to do bars as of right now, and while my teammates are on other events like floor and vault, I help coach the younger girls, and I really enjoy that. I think over all I had a pretty fun but relaxing spring break. Something similar about Bruno and Eli is that they both went through the Holocaust. Not only that but they were both young when it started. They both didn't know what was going on. Something different about Bruno and Eli is that Bruno never did figure out what was going on and why people were behind fencing. Eli quickly figured out what was going on.
I imagine Eli as a very tall skinny kid, I also think that he is very wise and a great problem solver. I think at some points he made things worse for himself and he pushed off somethings that would end up meaning a lot. I see Bruno as an explorer he likes to see things, and he looks at the world different, he only thinks about the positives. He likes to help people and puts other before himself, he is also sorta clueless he doesn't seem to know whats going on and he doesn't grasp the fact that his dad is part of all of the bad things and causing his friend Schmuel to go through all this. I like the movie better because it gives me more detail and makes me understand better about what happend, and some of the things that they had to go through. Also some things they had to do, like work i peoples houses and do yard work. Also it showed that they could get killed for no reason. My final thoughts are, I thought the movie and the book were both good, they helped explain the Holocaust a little more, the movie helped me see what it was like in the camps. I still dont understand why someone would do that to innocent people though. Tough Question pg.82 The dad had to decide weather or not to stay in the infirmary or to get evacuated like everyone else. He wanted to make sure Eliezer would be okay and that his foot would be okay. He wanted what was best for both of them, he decided to get evacuated like everyone else, in hopes that they would work and be able to live. What this makes me wonder about is, I wonder what I would've done it that situation, and if I would've made the right choice. Memory Moment pg.100 They threw coins and bread to the natives. Then the children started to fight in the water. They children tried to strangle each other for food and coins. Elie remembered people fighting over food and they would kill each other for bread, and he knew remembered that moment, so he talked to the lady about it, and he had a feeling that that was going to happen again. Words of the Wiser pg.110 Blockalteste told Elie that they could do nothing for his dad, that he was sick and nothing could be done.He said that Elie couldn't do anything for him. He reminded him that he was still in a consecration camp, and he said that he can't think of anyone else, only himself, he said that in the concentration camps there is no such thing as a father, brother, or your friend. Each one of them lives and dies alone. The life lesson is that he needs to realize that he is alone, he needs to survive himself. That he cant think of others before himself, he needs to put himself before others. He also needs to make sure hes surviving before he helps anyone else. If I were President the first thing I would do is fund more homeless shelters and help get people off of the streets. I would do this because I love to help people and I think that no matter were you come from, a wealthy home, or not you can make a difference, and if I was the president I would have a lot of money I would love to help other people out, and help them get back on there feet. I would also help them get a job and maybe a better place to live.
The second thing I would do is make sure people are coming in legally but are also getting treated with respect, compassion, and understanding. I would do this because I think that it is great for people to come to America, and try and make their lives better, but I also thing it should be done the proper way and they would be here legally. The last thing I would do is make our schools better, some schools can barely buy enough textbooks for 20 students and other schools have enough money to buy 300 textbooks, I would make sure that all the schools were equal and had everything that they needed. I would also set the curriculum as the things they will later need in life, like knowing how to pay taxes, and how to cook and take care of themselves and others, I don't think 30 years from now I'm going to use slopes, they should be teaching me something I will need to know. Over winter break I celebrated Christmas, we opened our christmas presents on christmas eve, I got alot of clothes and as a family gift we got a PS4. I made my dad a special gift, it had pictures of us and around the pictures I wrote things I loved about him. On christmas day I went to my grandmas, we had munchies all day and then we opened presents. On January 1st we went to my aunt Lori's house in Solon and we had my dads side of the family christmas, we were there all day, we played games, watched movies, ice skated, and played hockey on their lake. Then my cousins Sam and Jay they played the guitar and sang some songs while my uncle Tod was cooking dinner. We all sat down and had dinner, then the kids opened there gifts and then the adults have a grab gift we do. Then we played more games and told many stories and watched old videos from 10 years ago. It was amazing to be able to share memories with them and relive those memories.
Over winter break I also celebrated my dads birthday, his birthday is on New Years Eve. We went out to dinner and we had some friends from Illinois come spend the weekend with us. We went to a New Years Eve party and we had alot of fun. There was a DJ and alot of dancing, they also played a game callled name the ti=une it was very fun. Alot of my parents friends where there and so were mine. I had a great time catching up with everyone and having a fun party. Over all I would say that I had a great winter break and I cant wait for next year. The article talked about the skills that 18 year olds should have, and why they should have them. It said what you need to be an "adult" and what character traits you need to have. Also it taked about the reson of why you need them, the purpose of needing that skill. Also it explained what you need to get through college and the proper way to adress people.
I agree with everything that they said, when you are talkling to people you need to know how to cook and how to maintain a good household, and how you need to have people skills, that you should be able to talk to strangers, in everyday things like at stores, on the phone , and at work. Also they made it a good point about how to keep a good household, you need to keep a clean house and you should be able to maintain all the things the house needs and all the things the people in the house need. One school rule that I don't like is the dress codes, its not fair how they do it. Honestly I understand they have to have boundarys and I get that they don't want girls shorts to short, but when girls get dress codes for their bra straps showing. Its not our fault, its just part of nature. The schools pull the whole " The boys will get distracted." well its not my job to make sure the boys are learning and paying attention, I should be able to go to school and feel comfortable with what I'm wearing. Also one of the dress code rules are that boys undergarment cant be showing, at least 1/2 of the boys at our school don't pull there pants up, but you never see any of them getting dress coded. We will also get dress coded because we are showing to much of our back or shoulders, in the summer when we are wearing tank tops and other shirts like that, but once again its not my job to make sure the boys are getting work done, and I'm not going to wear a long sleeved shirt in the summer when its 90 degrees outside just so that boys will pay attention in school. They don't make the rules fair and they don't have the same amount of rules for boys as they do for girls. I understand why they want the school to look nice, especially when we have guests at the school, and I understand they need some type of boundary but it should be more fair. Also if a teacher does dress code a boy they just pull up there pants or they get a new shirt from the health office, they fix the problem at school, but if the girl gets dress coded they will most likely get talked to and potentially get sent home.
What I am thankful for is...
